Mercy Nnenda Chinwo was born on 5 September 1992 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. She is the fourth child in a family of five (first daughter).

Mercy got involved in music at a very early age, being a member of the children’s choir in her church and transitioning to the adult choir prior to launching her musical career.

She started her musical career by lending her vocals to several renowned music artists.

In 2012, she became the winner of Nigerian Idol season 2

Mercy Chinwo released her first single, “Testimony” in 2015, and “Igwe” a year later(2016).

In 2017, Mercy Chinwo signed to Gospel Music Label Eezee Conceptz.

A year after winning Nigerian Idol, she landed her first film role in Yvonne Nelson’s film, House of Gold starring alongside Yvonne NelsonMajid Michel and Omawumi among others.

In 2018, Mercy Chinwo was awarded the Best Gospel Artiste at the CLIMAX Awards 2018. In 2019, at the maiden edition of the Africa Gospel Awards Festival (AGAFEST 2019) Mercy Chinwo was named winner in three categories namely Africa Gospel New Artiste of the Year, Africa Gospel Female Artiste of the Year and Africa Gospel Song of the Year with her song “Excess Love” . Notably, the categories she won contained the likes of Sinach, Prospa Ochimana and Tim Godfrey.

She has released a lot of singles, got featured in some songs, released her first album “The Cross My Gaze” and set to release the second album “Satisfied” on the 3rd of July
